Mike joined the firm in 2008 and focuses his practice primarily in the areas of criminal defense, family law, and general civil litigation. Mike is a military veteran and former police officer with several years of law enforcement experience which is particularly useful in the criminal defense arena. Mike has spent the last five years focusing a major portion of his practice on representing clients charged with first degree murder throughout Eastern North Carolina. As a result of this work, Mike has developed working relationships with private investigators, mental health professionals, and forensic specialists that could be used to assist you with the particular needs of your case whether it be criminal or civil in nature. Using his experience and working relationships, Mike has conducted numerous bench and jury trials with favorable results for many of his clients.  

When away from work, Mike enjoys working in the yard, traveling, and the outdoors, particularly kayaking, hiking, and fishing.
